Why Design is the Natural Next Step

October 02, 2026•2 min read

We are passionate about helping clients navigate the process of buying and selling their homes. But, of course, you know that about us!

What you may not know is how passionate we are about design as well. Mica has been renovating and designing homes and commercial properties for almost 20 years, starting with a DIY renovation of a tiny bungalow in Denver, CO, where she spent many hours on YouTube learning how to plumb a sink and replace light fixtures.

Following that bungalow came extensive renovations to many more properties including a mid-century home in Los Angeles, coastal inspired vacation rental properties and a boutique hotel in Florida, bohemian-influenced vacation homes in Palm Springs and Lake Arrowhead, CA, and, most recently, a Folk Victorian in Hudson, Ohio.

Throughout every one of her projects, Mica has followed the same design ethos: respect the architecture, create timeless spaces, and make them feel like home. Every elegant coffee table has room to prop your feet. A worn but character-filled dining table proudly shows off glass rings from years of dinner parties. A homeowner’s collections showcased front and center.

These days we use a trusted team to do the hands-on work, but the passion and vision remains the same. We love quirky, we love bohemian, we love traditional. It all depends on the space and who lives in it. We want what we design for our clients to come from their vision of home.

Who inspires us? Some of our favorite designers include Pierce & Ward, Commune Design, Nickey Kehoe, Beata Heuman, Marmol Radziner, and so many more talented designers who aren’t afraid to break the rules, in the best possible way.

Whether you are looking for a décor refresh in your living room or a complete remodel of kitchens, baths, floors, we are here to help! Oh! We also do holiday décor (anyone who knows Katie, knows she can spread holiday spirit like no one else!)
